A cross-session of pupils from the Modern High School located at 119 Off Jomo Kenyatta Road in Freetown, Sierra Leone, visited the MRU Secretariat on Thursday, 4th March 2020. There were 25 pupils (6 boys and 19 girls) from the Senior Secondary School (SS-2 and SS-3) accompanied by Mr. Munda Breweh, and Mr. Alfred Alpha, Heads of Department – Arts Stream.
The objective of the visit was to acquaint the pupils on the activities of the MRU which is a quintessential element in the WASSCE Syllabus for pupils offering both History and Government in the Arts stream.
The meeting began with silent prayers followed by self-introduction. In her welcome remarks, the Secretary General of the Mano River Union, Amb. Medina A. Wesseh, Esq. informed the pupils that MRU is prepared to do more of these initiatives in order to enhance knowledge sharing of the MRU and its activities. She added that as part of the restructuring process in the Secretariat, her leadership has decided to complete the setting-up of a documentation center with relevant information on the Secretariat as well as put in place internet services to enhance research.
Mr. Alfred Alpha thanked the Secretary General for approving their visit. He explained the purpose of the visit and indicated that the pupils at the Modern High School are not only limited to studies in the classroom, but undertake these kinds of field trips and visitations to institutions so as to acquire more knowledge on important topics related to the WASSCE Syllabus.
There was random interaction between the pupils and the SG of the MRU followed by a presentation on the MRU, questions and answers, snacks, and group photos.
