Construction of 180 MW Hydroelectric Dam

Construction of 180 MW Hydroelectric Dam
The Construction of a 180 MW Hydroelectric Dam on the Mano River border between Liberia and Sierra Leone is a landmark project that seeks to enhance energy security in the Mano River Union region. This project is part of a broader strategy to ensure sustainable energy availability and affordability, particularly for rural and remote areas that have historically been underserved.
The project, which has an estimated investment cost of $550 million USD, is being led by Investment and Procurement Solution Ltd (Ipsl), a United Kingdom-based private company. The MRU Secretariat has been instrumental in facilitating the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between the governments of Liberia and Sierra Leone, which are key stakeholders in this initiative.
The hydroelectric dam is expected to provide a reliable and sustainable source of energy, which will not only meet the current energy needs of the region but also support future economic development. The project is strategically located on the Mano River, taking advantage of the natural resources available in the region to generate clean and renewable energy.
In addition to its energy benefits, the project is expected to create jobs, stimulate local economies, and contribute to the overall development of the MRU region. The MRU Secretariat continues to coordinate with various partners to ensure the successful implementation of this critical infrastructure project.
