The Epidemic Control & Reinforcement of Health Services (ECRHS) project is a vital health initiative aimed at strengthening community awareness and preparedness for the prevention and control of communicable and non-communicable diseases in the Mano River Union region. The project is particularly focused on border communities, which are often at higher risk due to their proximity to multiple countries and the movement of people across borders.

Funded by KfW and CARE International, the ECRHS project has made significant progress in increasing awareness of cross-border public health issues, particularly in communities located along the Sierra Leone-Guinea border. The project includes activities such as public health campaigns, training for community health workers, and the establishment of cross-border health committees.

The MRU Secretariat plays a central role in coordinating the project, ensuring that it aligns with regional health strategies and contributes to the broader goal of improving public health outcomes in the MRU region. The project is ongoing and continues to address critical health challenges in the region, contributing to the overall resilience of the MRU member states.
